Garmin 2495LMT Review
That is a initial report. I recently gotten my GPS about 3hrs ago. First thing i did so was upgrade both european and united states maps. I've no idea how everyone else is updating there maps but i had space for that full north american map revise and after deleting (and backing up) a few from the voices i dont speak nor understand within the gps i needed room to upgrade the full european map. I downloaded the maps towards the computer along with the gadget so i have back up maps if need be. Download and install for both maps took about 2hrs max. Pretty positive considering that the latest updates are larger you do need some extra space around the gps but there generally seems to be plenty. It seems to me just like the current map updates delete that old map updates because i cant find either map within the folder so must be performed automatically. So far so great along with installation. Only issue i had was the garmin web installer did not work by using firefox 5.0.1 therefore i did everything using ie through no difficulties at all.
GPS itself: Beautiful unit, power stays attached to the dash mount therefore all you do is eliminate the gps and take it having you. Cables and mount needs to be locked within your glove box or use a bean bag mount thus you will have no residue for the windshield. Powers right up right away, took a little while to calculate but guessing this really is normal as its a fresh unit. Found the satellites within 2mins of turning it on and putting it outside. I tried it by performing a quick test drive and speed limits were correct, voice prompt was fabulous and voices an excellent 2-300feet before the turn. Lane guidance is fantastic it made sure i had been inside the left lane of any 4 lane road 1/4mile before the turn.
I bought this to work with mainly in Europe since i have will probably be going there in 2 weeks. I zoomed up and moved the map around and may seem to show every one of the roads in Europe therefore hoping it updated correctly and can work fine once i receive there. This can be a initial examine to show how simple (sadly lengthy to download each map is about 1.5-2.5GB, thats right gigabytes you will need a quick steady relationship) everything went efficiently. Will write an revise after its used in Europe.
